Controversy: Starz Original series: The white queen, Davinci’s demons are both very good, but don’t come close to Camelot’s excellence. Please Starz bring Camelot back!!!!
Both shows are pretty good!
The first is about the first queen Elizabeth (not to be confused with Elizabeth I) Elizabeth Woodville – [nb 1] c. 1437 – 8 June 1492) was Queen consort of England as the spouse of King Edward IV from 1464 until his death in 1483. At the time of her birth, her family was mid-ranked in the English aristocracy. Her first marriage was to a minor supporter of the House of Lancaster, Sir John Grey of Groby; he died at the Second Battle of St Albans, leaving Elizabeth a widowed mother of two sons. Her second marriage, to Edward IV, was a cause célèbre of the day, thanks to Elizabeth’s great beauty and lack of great estates. Edward was only the second King of England since the Norman Conquest to have married one of his subjects, and Elizabeth was the first such consort to be crowned Queen. [nb 2] Her marriage greatly enriched her siblings and children, but their advancement incurred the hostility of Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick, ‘The Kingmaker’ and his various alliances with the most senior figures in the increasingly-divided royal family.
This hostility turned into open discord between King Edward and Warwick, leading to a battle of wills that finally resulted in Warwick switching allegiance to the Lancastrian cause. Elizabeth remained politically influential even after her elder son, briefly proclaimed King Edward V of England, was deposed by her brother-in-law, Richard III, and she would play an important role in securing Henry VII’s accession to the throne in 1485, which ended the Wars of the Roses. However, after 1485 she was forced to yield pre-eminence to Henry’s mother, Lady Margaret Beaufort, and her influence on events in these years, and her eventual departure from court into retirement, remains obscure.
Woodville’s children included the Princes in the Tower and Elizabeth of York; by the latter she was maternal grandmother of Henry VIII and great-grandmother of King Edward VI, Queen Mary I of England and Queen Elizabeth I and the great-great-grandmother of Mary, Queen of Scots. Through her daughter, Elizabeth of York, she is the ancestor of every English monarch since Henry VIII and every Scottish monarch since James V of Scotland.
The second is a fictional tale based on fact about the life of Leonardo Davinci intertwined with the history of Italy. Kind of like Forest Gump…
both shows are very good, but… they lack the meshing of characters and the certain magic that Camelot possesses. Camelot draws you in and makes you want to see the next episode quite like other great series like: Game of Thrones, Spartacus and True Blood. However, its closer to Spartacus on the fact that you already know the story, but you want to see where the series is going to take it.
Camelot has a certain magic with the cast:
I believe if given a chance this show will develop a cult following and only get stronger and stronger much like the Highlander. The Highlander had a 19 million dollar budget, but only brought in 12.8 million at the box office. If the producers would have scratched the project, they woudn’t have the empire they have now!
A big problem of Camelot, is Starz had it running the same time as Game of Thrones. Most of the fan base had to switch back and forth. You have to run the show on different seasons then Game of Thrones. The same day and timeslot would be ideal.
Maybe bring in another star to play the role of Percival or Galahad. There are many more adventures that can be had. Le Morte Dathur is probably the most popular legend beside that of Robin Hood.
I previously wrote an article about saving Camelot, this is the second! Please Starz bring it back!
Spartacus: Vengeance is a Starz television series advertised as the second season and sequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand. It premiered on January 27, 2012. Its story follows Spartacus (played by Liam McIntyre, who replaces Andy Whitfield), after he and his fellow gladiators kill their master Batiatus and escape from his gladiatorial training school or ludus. Cast members and characters who return from the first season include Lucy Lawless as Lucretia, Peter Mensah as Oenomaus, Manu Bennett as Crixus, Nick Tarabay as Ashur, Viva Bianca as Ilithyia, and Craig Parker as Gaius Claudius Glaber. Dustin Clare will also reprise his role as Gannicus from Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, the prequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand.
After the bloody escape from the House of Batiatus that concluded Spartacus: Blood and Sand, the gladiator rebellion begins to strike fear into the heart of the Roman Republic in Spartacus: Vengeance. Praetor Claudius Glaber and his Roman troops are sent to Capua to crush Spartacus’ growing band of freed slaves before they can inflict further damage. Spartacus is given a choice between satisfying his personal need for vengeance against the man who condemned his wife to slavery and eventual death, or making the larger sacrifices necessary to keep his budding army from breaking apart.
With the death of Andy Whitfield it seems in the first episode that the story also died! A ton of hack and slash deaths, a bunch of nudity (which I’m not complaining about.) Lol but no storyline…
The best part I the episode was seeing the look on Crixus’ face when he saw that Lucretia was still alive (which back then was definitely a mortal wound!)
Hopefully the next episode will return to the quality of the other 2 seasons!
I love the first 2 seasons! It’s a real shame about Andy! This new guy is much softer than Andy (muscle wise) but eerie close looks wise! I think he will do a good job.
Starz Cancels Camelot! What Bullshit! Let’s Save Camelot! There was big promise there especially for Season 2! SAVE CAMELOT!
This is my 135th Post I wish it was on a happier note! Starz is Making a big mistake!
Did Starz’s ‘Camelot’ Make Case For Renewal With Season Finale?
Starz’s drama series Camelot wrapped its freshman season on Friday with 1.032 million viewers for the 10 PM airing and 1.5 million for the night. That was the series’ second-highest viewership behind the premiere, which drew a 1.125 million for the original airing and 1.6 million for the night. On the minus side, the finale fell short of the recent closer of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, which posted 1.724 million viewers for its first airing, as well as the first-season finale of Spartacus: Blood and Sand (1.227 million). On the plus side, after some ratings erosion after the premiere, Camelot has been on an upswing in recent weeks, building steadily to the penultimate episode, which averaged 1.003 million, and the finale. Starz will probably weigh all that as the network is yet to make a renewal decision on the costume drama, a retelling of the story of King Arthur.
Starz are you kidding me! Get your head out of your ass and renew
I was telling my friend all season that Starz is becoming a leader in Television just like HBO and Showtime, because of Camelot and Spartacus. Boss and Torchwood are garbage! If you are to abandon a series abandon them. Everyone knows the story of King Arthur so in the beginning there will be a little resistance, but they will soon come around and the numbers show it. There hasn’t even been any epic battles yet! Now that Leontes is dead now what??? Was he Lancelot? I don’t see where he can be, because he is already dead and there isn’t a Galahad! There is also no Percival.
Another problem is Starz ran Camelot while HBO ran Game of Thrones. The Fan-base was split. That was a big mistake! The Second season can only go up, just like Game of Thrones. That series is gearing up toward an epic battle! The likes of which are the foundation of The search for the Holy Grail, The Final Battle with Mordred!
This is the last possible season of Spartacus That’s it the story is told! King Arthur can go on for a long time! Don’t kill it!
I see this series like Showtime’s Dead Like Me:
a series Showtime canceled and realized they screwed up! It became a cult classic and spawned a movie. Which wasn’t as good due to the lack of stars: Mandy Patinkin and Laura Harris weren’t in the movie due to scheduling conflicts. If Showtime wasn’t stupid they would have had a hit series and a hit movie too! They Shouldn’t have canceled it.
Bryan Fuller (the Writer) left early in the first season due to conflicts with MGM Television, including disagreement over major script and storyline cuts considered important to the main theme. He stated that the “lack of professionalism… made it really difficult… it was like being at war… they were constantly trying to strongarm me. It was the worst experience of my life”. According to Fuller, Showtime canceled the show due to “a loss of quality and a sense the problems would continue.” They Shot themselves in the foot there! If you like someone’s story don’t try to edit or rewrite it, if it working! If it’s not broke, DON’T FIX IT!
The show’s complete ratings were not released, though executives had claimed to at least one reporter that Dead Like Me had ratings three times Showtime’s primetime average. This contrasts with the network’s statement that the ratings were not high enough for a third season. The ratings for the series premiere were 1.11 million, a record for a Showtime series premiere that was not beaten until the premiere of Shameless seven years later.
If 1.1 Million was a record, look at Camelot’s ratings! It’s beyond 1.1 Million! What is Starz’s Problem!
MAKE ME MORE CAMELOT NOW! BEFORE YOU LOOSE KEY
Save Camelot! Please leave a comment below urging Starz to make
a second season!
Do you know what makes everything worse???
That crappy BBC made Merlin on Syfy got picked up for a fifth season!! The 4th season starts on SyFy Jan 6th
Total season 2 US viewers were 1.39 million
It’s total season 3 US viewers were 1.61 million keep in mind it’s on cable tv not a paid premium channel.
That proves that Camelot can also gain viewers!
