Restaurant Review: Bobby Flay’s Bobby’s Burger Palace

So I forgot to comment?

Ok well, this place is amazing and makes me a much bigger Bobby Flay fan! The burgers are highly customizable! Unlike Zinburger!

The white queso on the fries was delicious! And the bacon gave it a sweet and salty taste that was to die for and I wish I have been here more than once!

The peanut butter shake was great and finally someone gave you a straw that you can actually suck it up through without blowing out a blood vessel! Lol

I added an egg to my burger. I don’t remember which one I got it looks like a spicy aioli on top, but I don’t see it on the current menu.

What I don’t like is the seating! The seats suck and are totally uncomfortable! Bobby did that on purpose (a dick move) to increase turnover by making you uncomfortable you don’t want to stay! So you order takeout or you order, eat fast and leave! I do not condone that theory! I think instead of increasing business and turnover it will drive people to choose one of the many many other establishments in the area! Especially after a hard days work and all you want to do is relax and have a delicious meal!

Also for larger customers as you can see, the seats are bolted to the floor! Ugh

Restaurant Review: Sabrosura 2 Westchester Ave

My favorite Dominican lo mein!

As you can see this place is huge!

Sabrosura 2 is a nice place! Not as good as 1 but only because the place is large and the service sucks! It took forever at lunch time to get a waiter! There was only 2 for the huge place!

Just look at the food above it was amazing and cheap! As long as you aren’t in a hurry go enjoy it!

Restaurant Review: Sabrosura – Castle Hill road Bronx, NY

All of the food here is absolutely amazing!! A mix of Spanish (Dominican/Puerto Rican) and Chinese.

The menu is just as huge as the portion size!  Pictured above is the Dominican Lo Mein! With huge chunks of chicken! It was absolutely delicious! And the price is right at this place! Go go go!

Restaurant Review: Sweet and Savory – a crepe and rice pudding bar – Port Jefferson Long Island NY

This place is awesome! I am only reviewing the rice pudding bar.

As you can see they have many different flavors! I got the Holy Cannoli and it was just as good as Miami Rice’s Cannoli rice pudding. However; Miami Rice in Denville, NJ closed a couple years ago and I have been missing flavored rice pudding ever since.

It tastes great! If you are in the area it is definitely worth going!

Restaurant Review: Tuk Tuk Long Island City, NY

The Pea soup was good, the steamed dumplings were good although they were only 2 pieces. The soup: Tom Ka Gai was amazing! It was perfect the way it should be!

The Massaman Curry was the best I have ever tasted and I don’t take that lightly! Previously; Tommy Cheng’s in Wayne NJ was the best and Tuk Tuk was slightly better the way they layered the sweet and spicy taste with chili, curry and cilantro was amazing!

Check this place out!

Restaurant Review: Cevich – Union Square NYC

Cevich brings a brand new healthy food option to Union Square as New York City’s first grab-n-go Ceviche restaurant. This small but modern and relaxing restaurant offers a variety of dishes that blend traditional Peruvian recipes along with other culinary influences. Cevich’s dishes are fresh, affordable, customizable and gluten-free. Located in one of the city’s most popular neighborhoods, Cevich is close to famous attractions such as the Flatiron Building and Madison Square Park, as well as many boutique and name brand shops. Under the direction of co-owners and operators Reina Laws and Lindsay Goldstein, Cevich will become a trusted brand of the Ceviche product in a rapidly growing food market.

Cevich offers a variety of dishes inspired by the ancient South American cuisine in which fresh fish and seafood is “cold cooked” in a marinade of citrus juices, spices and other ingredients such as chilies, red onions and cilantro. The origins can be traced to the coastal regions of South America and is believed to have been created after Spanish settlers brought citrus trees to the region and Japanese immigrants their new culinary techniques and flavors. Executive Chef Evelyn Alberto executes the menu with sauces made in house daily with local, fresh ingredients. Menu items range from ceviche burritos and tacos to 12 or 16 oz. ceviche bowls and entrée salads.

I got the Ceviche bowl with coconut rice, lime n da coconut (hold the red onion) and shrimp with avocado (not worth the $2 extra couldn’t even find the microscopic pieces) and Rocoto Sofrito hot sauce (that was amazing)

I loved it all except the price welcome to NYC! The food was fresh and light! If you order it with greens it’s perfect for gluten free and low carb diets!

Check this place out for something out of the ordinary and delicious!

I got the tuna tartare and my girlfriend got the lobster roll. The tuna was great! Extremely fresh and tasted amazing! The Asian slaw underneath accented the tuna nicely and balanced the flavors! The lobster roll however was watery and had zero taste because of it! I believe in was a cooking error! I believe they boiled the lobster and didn’t steam it. When they boiled the lobster they didn’t allow it to drain before adding the mayo and other ingredients thus causing the lobster salad to be watery and lacking all flavor. Proper ingredients as it was busting with fresh lobster chunks, but poor execution made for a bad lunch on her part and her fathers (he ordered the same) I’m glad the tuna was amazing as poor raw tuna could have been a nightmare!

Check out this place! The surrounding meals looked great, mine tasted great and the atmosphere is serene as the restaurant sits perched above lake hopatcong giving you a nice view with a nice breeze off the lake!

The parking sucks! So if you have a smaller car and a larger one, take the smaller one lol!

I was surprised at how delicious all the food was! The coconut yogurt (fake yogurt like substance) tasted like yogurt even though the wasn’t any dairy in it! The Chocolate Mousse didn’t taste like Chocolate Mousse but it was delicious and the base ingredient is avocado! Which is a staple in my current diet! The Matcha Tea and Chia seed was also delicious! It’s flavors were layered nicely! At $6-8 I would buy all of the products again, but not too often!

The Dragon’s Breath was $4 and wasn’t bad the flavors were layered first the lemon then the ginger and pow the cayenne! I saved it for preworkout and it was nice!
I want to try to reverse engineer it for myself! It seems easy enough to make.

I went there today skeptical… And had the chocolate pudding: first off it’s not pudding! You vegans can’t steal our names and make your food ours!

Pudding is pudding! If you want to call yours pudding-like substance ok! Ps the same goes for yogurt, veggie burger, tiramisu, ice cream, moon pies and definitely Cheesecake! Make up your own names! No piggybacking!

That being said; I had the pudding like substance from One Lucky Duck and let me tell you it was amazing! That being said; I am not giving up meat! But I can add some of their products to my diet!

Does it taste like pudding? No! It was delicious and tastes totally different. Like nothing you have had. Does it have a pudding consistency? No! It’s slightly thicker. Does it look like pudding? Yes. Will I buy it again? Yes, but at $11 that’s crazy! Maybe once in a blue moon! Will I try to reengineer it? Yes!

I’ll just have to sneak in a ziplock bag of grilled chicken to make these dishes perfect! 😝

Seriously; try it and you will be amazed at how delicious raw food can be!

If you think hard enough there are plenty of foods that are delicious, fruits, veggies, Nutbutters, coconut etc.. However; my body and lifestyle demands way more protein on a daily basis! 1-1.5g of protein per pound of bodyweight! At 250lbs It would cost me a fortune to eat enough protein, with vegan proteins normally come carbs, carbs for my body-type are the Devil! So for me; I couldn’t totally switch. Nor do I want to! But like I said; it won’t hurt for me to integrate a little in my diet.

Remember the phrase:
Everything in moderation! Too much of one thing isn’t good for you! The same goes for not enough of everything also isn’t good!

Check it out! And stay tuned for more from them!

The only problem with this place is the prices are insane! Not crazy…insane! If the pudding was a reasonable $6-6:50 each I would be in everyday!

That’s a guaranteed $32.50 a week! And I would most likely buy more stuff as I go and look. But at $11 each maybe one a week if they are lucky!

If only they were reasonable! I could probably get a lot more people to go! Even those of us that aren’t vegan!

**Update** July 7th 2014

I got the infamous Mint Ice Cream sundae!

For being raw vegan and zero dairy it wasn’t that bad! The mint pseudo ice cream tasted like ice cream but the other flavor and the brownie chunks were noticeably different, but as a whole it was delicious and I would get it again. However; the chocolate pseudo pudding is by far my favorite! It tastes like real pudding and I wouldn’t mind eating it daily! If only it was more affordable!

**Update** July 10th 2014
Last night my girlfriend made the avocado Pseudo pudding recipe from here and she hit the nail on the head! She has all the cookbooks from Pure Food and Wine, so It was exactly the same consistency, color and flavor! It was delicious, lucky for me she made a big batch, so I can enjoy it for the next couple days! I had a little this morning for breakfast!

It’s great for battling a sweet tooth while staying on your diet! The best part is the recipe is raw, so how hard can it be! Avocados, cocoa and probably a few other ingredients together and boom yummy pudding like substance! It satisfies your healthy omega requirements and gives you a treat at the same time!

Check out Pure Food & Wine as well as One Lucky Duck! I promise you won’t be upset even though it’s raw vegan! If you happen to be raw vegan however; it may ruin your life! The products are soo good it may ruin other places for you and make you go broke only eating their food! I am not sure if they still sell cookbooks, but if they do, invest in them and take your raw vegan lifestyle to the next level! If you aren’t raw vegan like myself, some of the recipes will give you another tool for your toolbox on your way to a healthy balanced lifestyle!

Remember my catch phrase: Everything in moderation! That goes for anything and everything in life! If you can stick by that, you will have a happy, healthy and fun life! That’s my recipe for success!

It’s on my when we go to extremes that we get in trouble! Think about that!

Restaurant Review: Num Pang Sandwich Shop – NYC

Ratha Chaupoly and Ben Daitz met on the Clark University Campus in 1994. When the college buddies reconnected in New York City in 2000, they were surprised to find that they were both working in the restaurant industry. After Ratha Chaupoly opened Kampuchea restaurant in 2006 where Num Pang sandwiches were an integral part of the menu. The pair decided to open up the first Num Pang Sandwich shop near Union Square in March of 2009 and soon after a location in Midtown East. With graffiti art on the walls and 80s/90s hip hop blasting from the speakers, crowds extend all the way down the block to order these creative Asian sandwiches and sides that combine the flavors from Ratha’s childhood in Cambodia with Ben’s culinary technique.

In spring of 2012, Num Pang opened their third and flagship location in the up-and-coming NoMad neighborhood, in addition to a location in Chelsea Market, and just recently opened a fifth location in Times Square with more in the works (including a location in the highly coveted World Financial Center in Spring 2014) . Additionally the shops continue to be recognized by top tier media such as Bon Appetit who named their sandwiches “one of the top 25 things to eat in 2012”, The Village Voice who awarded them “Best Sandwich of 2013”, and they have been one of the highest rated sandwich shops in Zagat since opening.

Blood Orange Lemonade $3.25
Green Jasmine Iced Tea $2.75
Virgil’s Cream Soda $3.00
Ithaca Ginger Beer $3.00
Coconut Juice $2.50
Poland Spring Water $1.75

After I purchased the coconut juice I saw they make homemade blood orange lemonade sooo yum 😭😭😭

Next time!

That’s the way the came above

I ordered the Roasted Chicken ‘Chimi’ $8.00 below:

It was delicious! The pickles and carrots with cilantro layered the flavors nicely! First you tasted the amazing baked and toasted fresh bread, then you tasted the chicken and wham you get smacked with the sour pickle and sweet carrots with potent fresh cilantro at the end! All I one mouth full of chewing!

It was amazing and I would go back! I would also order the spicy Cambodian Slaw next time with the blood orange lemonade!

My sister ordered the Pulled Duroc Pork $8.25 and she too said it was amazing and she would order it again, and that’s coming from an extremely picky eater!

The location was small and quaint, but it quickly got loud with the young clientele that came in.

They have a few locations check them out! You won’t be sorry!

Restaurant Review: Rainforest Cafe (Menlo Park Mall – Edison, NJ)

If you read my blog regularly, you know I have a serious dislike for Chain Restaurants with very few exceptions: Muscle Maker Grill, Joe’s Crab Shack (although I haven’t been to one in about 10 years) Cheesecake Factory and very few others. However; Rainforest Cafe is one of those! And they are above all else!

The food is fresh and creative! The atmosphere relaxing and interesting! The huge salt water fish tank in huge lexan tubes is awe inspiring and tranquil. It reminds me of the days I spent thousands on my own saltwater tank (except its free lol) have your kids watch finding Nemo before you go and have fun watching them identify the fish! Oh that’s Nemo (a clownfish) oh that’s dory (a hippo tang) etc…

They have some fun attractions too! Every few minutes I believe on the hr and on the 1/2 there’s a rain storm and the lights go dark, clouds rumble, rain noises etc. They used to have a low hanging fog machine back in the day (you couldn’t see your feet) but I think they got rid of that. There was also an animatronic alligator by the entrance that the kids loved and of course: their huge gift shop! I still have my rainforest cafe mug!

Pictures can’t capture this place but, here are a few courtesy of yelp:

There’s the animatronic alligator I was talking about!

Unfortunately; they do have fried and unhealthy food to please the masses and children, but they do have great healthy meals and salads, but there are no pictures!

That’s not the entire menu I left out: appetizers, pizza and pasta and kids menu

If you want a fairly healthy creative (I can’t get this anywhere and it would cost a fortune to duplicate) meal then find the nearest one to you! They used to be all over especially in the NJ area! North Jersey, I believe Paramus had one, the palisades center (4 story the largest mall on east coast) had one etc.. But the is still one in Menlo Park!! (Edison) When the others closed I thought they all dried up except the Disney location, but I was wrong! Go check them out and help keep them open and maybe they will expand again!!

Restaurant Review: Al-Amana grill, deli & bakery – Rockaway, NJ

Chicken kabob platter with salad and homemade hummus

Lamb kabob (halal) platter with salad and hummus
Both were amazing and at $6.99 each I would take that all day every day and twice on Sunday!

Fresh, homemade, natural, gluten free, low carb and delicious!

Check out the menu, everything is cheap! They also sell dry goods in the front. Nuts, spices and normal middle eastern stuff like tahini, halva and baklava

They just has their grand opening.

It’s right across the street from Nutrition Zone – Rockaway, NJ
Check it out when you are in the area!! You won’t be disappointed!

Went again, I talked to the owner and she is from Egypt. The food was excellent once again! I got the mixed lamb/beef kabob and the same sides as above.

Restaurant Review: Sandwiches Unlimited – Rockaway, NJ

This place is great the owners make everything the way you want it! I got a mt Rushmore wrap with pulled chicken (chicken breast steak) instead of roast beef, with a side of homemade cole slaw.

It was delicious and fairly priced!

Check this place out and while you are there walk over to Nutrition Zone and tell Pete or Pauly, Lou said hi!

While you are there pick up your nutrition needs!!

Everything was great!

Restaurant Review: Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ – Orlando FL

Best BBQ in FL, but not as good as the Shed in MS!

Orlando BBQ – Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ
It all starts with Bubbalou’s mouth-watering Bar-B-Que, from the world famous baby back ribs to the tantalizing smoked chicken. You won’t find better Bar-B-Que anywhere in Orlando, and that’s why Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ has been recognized by USA Today, Southern Living, The New York Times and The Food Network.
Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ has a long history of cooking up great, award-winning Southern-Style Bar-B-Que in Orlando. Our Secret is to do it the traditional old-fashioned way – use quality meats cooked low and slow over a hard wood-fire and then hand rubbed with our secret recipe seasons and lightly topped with a mouthwatering, award-winning bar-b-que sauce.
At Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ we focus on our guests. From the time you walk through the door until the time you leave we want to be the best we can be. You will be welcomed like family and then we make every effort to ensure you enjoy your meal and your experience at one of Orlando’s most unique restaurants. Weather you eat in one of our five Central Florida BBQ restaurants, get it to go or have your meal catered, there’s something for everyone at Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ. You can pick from a variety of items which have been slow cooked over a hard wood fire, including our famous Baby Back Ribs, Chicken, Beef, Pork, and other tasty choices. You simply cannot go wrong.
Award Winning Orlando BBQ
While we all know that Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ is the best in Central Florida and the most hospitable and delicious BBQ catering company in Orlando, you don’t have to take our word for it. Awards abound and some of the most well known national publications have featured Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ. To begin with, Zagat’s Restaurant Surveys named Bubbalou’s as one of America’s Best Cheap Eats. Then, periodicals such as Southern Living, USA Today, the New York Times, Fortune Magazine and Delta Sky Magazine have recognized Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ as one of America’s Favorite BBQ Restaurants. Even CNN and The Food Network have picked Bubbalou’s as Central Florida’s #1 BBQ and catering company. Naturally, local publications such as the Orlando Sentinel, Orlando Magazine and Orlando Weekly have also come to the conclusion that there is no match for Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ.
While each Bubbalou’s location has it’s own menu, the Bubbalou’s commitment to the finest quality ingredients and preparations remains the same. Come try us today to see why Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ has been Orlando’s favorite since 1986.
No matter who you are, there’s a little something for everyone at Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ
Orlando’s Favorite BBQ Restaurant, since 1986.

The ribs fall off the bone, the brisket melts in your mouth! This place rocks! However, it’s not a romantic place for dinner lol! It’s an empty industrial feel with picnic tables! Great for the family however and inexpensive!

If your girl doesn’t care about the ambience and just appreciates good food go for it! But; definitely not on a first date unless she’s a serious redneck that drives a 4×4 plays in the mud (and not just with the truck) haha!

Restaurant Review: Royal Thai – Orlando FL

Royal Thai the best Thai food in FL!
Royal is ran by Muay Thai royalty! The owner is a Muay Thai Champion from Thailand! There are pictures, belts and trophies in the restaurant. However, he won’t train anymore.

Thai cuisine is known for its balance of four fundamental flavors in each dish or the overall meal – hot (spicy, sour, sweet, and salty). Although populary considered as a single cuisine, Thai food is really better described as four regional cuisines corresponding to the four main regions of the country: Northern, Northeaster (or Isan), Central, and Southern. Southern curries, for example, tend to contain coconut milk and fresh turmeric, while northeastern dishes often include lime juice.

I love the Tom Kha Gai, Pad Ped, drunken noodles and many other things!

If you are in the area this place rocks!!
Great for a date! The prices are a little expensive for Orlando and most food is dirt cheap! But coming from NJ/NY they are reasonably cheap for the quality!

Restaurant Review: Sweet Tomatoes – Orlando FL

I wish to God there was a Sweet Tomatoes in NJ! **Pay attention corporate!!**

In a land where fitness and healthy eating thrives (NJ) this place would rock!

Soup, salad, some (Elios frozen like pizza) and good desserts!

If you want a healthy cheap meal! Head to sweet tomatoes! Make a healthy veggie salad (with meat aka protein! of course for us fitness freaks 😉) and stay away from the dessert and pizza lol

There’s also a full nutrition guide online! To help you log your meals and track your caloric intake! (Remember to check the livestrong my plate article here)

This is a great place to go!

They even serve breakfast on Sunday!!

Join us every Sunday from 9 to noon for our Sunday morning menu! Featuring scrambled eggs, waffles, biscuits & gravy, oatmeal, potatoes o’brien, freshly baked cinnamon chip biscuits, muffins, make-your-own breakfast burritos, and more! All this in addition to our expansive salad and soup bars.
Hope to see you soon!

Oh and the waitresses are young, very cute and perky and they have sweet tomatoes ( . )( . ) 😱 😍 (I think that’s where the name came from and not the salad bar 😱)

Is that not a crazy menu???

My favorites are as follows:
Buffalo Frog Legs!!

They are absolutely amazing! Take Buffalo Chicken Wings and mix fish with Chicken and you get the amazing taste of frog legs! They fall apart in your mouth and off the bone! Pure white little bones it’s cool!

Buffalo Gator Tail!!
A little tough, but nothing you have ever tasted! A little gamey, but the buffalo sauce cuts it a little and makes it enjoyable!

Crab Cakes!!
Homemade jumbo lump crab cakes and one of the best seafood restaurants!

Crab Stuffed Filet – Stuffed Flounder! With that amazing crab meat again!! The whole thing just crumbles in your mouth! The stuffing is loaded with lump crab meat had not overly stuffed with breadcrumbs, they find a happy medium!

And saving the best for last: blue crab dip! OMG!! Just get it! (Unless you are allergic)

If you love seafood and you are near Orlando, you must go!!

Restaurant Review: La Granja Brasas Grille – Winter Park FL (many locations in FL)

La Granja Restaurants

In 1993 we opened our first Restaurant in Aruba Island, with the idea of making the Peruvian style rotisserie chicken and some Peruvian plates known in the island.
The idea worked great, and our food was not only known but it became part of the arubian daily meal.
Because of this success, we decided to introduce the same idea in Florida, so in 1995 we opened our first location here, in Margate. The results were even better. Since then, and because of the great acceptance, we decided to take our great food, fast attention and low prices to more and more places, so we started opening more locations: Hollywood in 1997, West Palm Beach and the second one in Margate in 2001 Kendall and another on in Aruba in 2002, Pembroke Pines in 2003, Orlando, Tamarac and Weston in 2004, our second location in Hollywood and two locations in Fort Pierce in 2005, and in 2006 in Boca Raton and Chicago.
Year 2007 meant a big step for us, besides opening in Lauderhill, a second location in Pembroke Pines, and the second one in West Palm Beach, we started our franchising era, turning our Kendall location in the first franchise, and opening the second on in Fort Myers.
The Restaurant Review Magazine recognized us as “The Best Peruvian Restaurant of the Year” on 2003, “The Best Family Style Peruvian Restaurant” on 2004 and “Best Peruvian Cuisine of Fort Lauderdale 2007”.
We have been in the business for more than ten years, and we are planning to stay for many more; this is just the beginning.

This place rocks and it’s super super cheap! You get a ton of quality food for the money! Homemade and healthy! Not processed and salted down like the large chains!

My favorites:
Whole rotisserie chicken plus rice and beans 13.50!

Large side of Fried Yuca $4.50!

And a can of apple soda (and I don’t like soda) but imported apple soda rocks!

If you want a fresh homemade inexpensive quality meal, and you want the best bang for the buck, go here!! They even have a small fixins bar!

Restaurant Review: Opa – Wayne, NJ

I went here for my friend/possible cousin: Pat Bianco’s & Moodswing blues band.

The food was incredible and the music was nice.

I got the Lamb Souvlaki platter instead of fries or rice I got a salad and it was great! My friend got the beef and he loved it too!

The food is fresh and healthy if you order it that way!

If you are in the area and want healthy food, Opa (Greek cuisine) is a great restaurant to visit!

Restaurant Review: 25 Burgers – Bound Brook NJ

I was in Bound Brook, NJ looking for a post workout meal, there was Burger King and across the street was this greasy spoon looking place called 25 Burgers.

So I decided to go in! To my surprise 25 burgers had a great menu! Although, nothing was consistent. The menu on the wall, was different then the printed menu, which was different then the sign on the counter, but they had everything on all the signs.

Then I talked to the 2 guys at the counter and asked them each what their favorite is; the second guy replied the (I forgot the name) burger and I asked where is that, he replied oh it’s not in the menu, but it’s the biggest burger it has 2 patties. I said well you answered my next question, what’s the biggest burger.

I then asked, can you add a second patty to any burger? He said sure its like $1 extra. I gladly said double meat hell yeah! Ill take it!

I then looked at the menu and the 6 alarm burger jumped out at me!

Look at that yumminess with double meat! It was really greasy, but tasted delicious and I didn’t mind the grease for the first time in my life, because the flavors were just popping!

I looked further and saw the blue crab burger

That was delicious and fresh! The crab was soft and falling apart in my hands and 110% delicious!

When I ordered I asked if the burgers came with anything and they said no. The combos (which were plain burgers) came with fries and a drink. But the gourmet burgers, didn’t come with anything that’s why I ordered the 2.

On the way out, I looked at their homemade milkshakes. I got a peanut butter (sign on the counter, not wall or menu lol) fresh homemade milk shake! I think it was just milk, ice and fresh peanut butter right out of the jar! No processed peanut flavor crap! I’m not sure if they added ice cream, I think it was just milk, ice and peanut butter, because it was just thick, frosty peanut buttery taste it was a peanut butter addict’s (like myself) dream! The good and the bad thing was it came in a small Styrofoam cup. The good thing is the calories weren’t that bad, because it was homemade and small. The bad thing was it was delicious and small lol you want more!!!

I actually found a 25 burgers the other night in Fairfield, NJ not too far from my house! Sweet!

Restaurant Review: Food Truck – the French Quarter food truck

Ok as you know from reading my blog, I was stationed in Ms and frequented a lot of Cajun places in MS & LA and I have been seriously missing it! Especially since the food network is running a new series the Shed.

I also have been looking forward to trying the French Quarter food truck since the Jersey Shore food truck wars that I couldn’t attend and since the truck passed me on the highway a week or 2 ago!

Well, lets just say it was a almost total disappointment!

I got the shrimp po’boy at $10!!

I ate the first half of the small sandwich. Notice there are only about 5 shrimp on the half… I am used to Louisiana po’boys with the Shrimp falling out all over the place and the shrimp being prawns (xlarge jumbo) aka huge!! The po’boy from the French quarter was much healthier usually it’s drenched with hot sauce and mayo! Theirs was on the dry side very little topping.

Now to the gumbo, well what they call gumbo!

A giant bowl of grease probably due to the processed Pepperidge farm looking Andouille that they used. To me it was good! But, it didn’t taste like gumbo! It was closer to a chili soup. It was good but was it worth $7 a bowl? No!

Would I go out of my way to find the truck? No! Would I go again? No, unless they lowered their prices. The value for the money isn’t there.

Restaurant Review: Food Truck – Mesquite Manorville, NY

I passed this food truck on the side of 111 ever since may and I have been wanting to stop, but I’m always fighting traffic on the way home. Today I figured its fri and screwed anyway! Lets just check it out and I’m glad I did!

I got a duck taco, at $4.25 it wasn’t a great buy as it was really small, but it did taste good!

I got a steak burrito to go and ate it in the car just before I’m writing this lol.

The steak burrito rocked! It was packed and heavy! It was bursting with flavor! Packed with rice, guacamole and sour cream. The the guacamole was homemade and light. A creamy consistency not like the
normal green gluey substance.

The best part was the homemade picante sauce with blackened tomatoes you could not see it, but you could taste the smoky char and it had a strong yummy fresh cilantro taste!

Would I go back yes!! Would I get tacos? No! Well I might just have to try their mahi mahi taco! But I would definitely get a burrito!

Check them out they even have cute outdoor seating!

Ps driving and blogging is dangerous and illegal do not try this at home!
