First off where’s the mint? I’m not talking about the mint green colored pieces in the bar; I’m talking about the flavor! It’s not there at all!! I originally thought it would be sickening sweet, but it’s the opposite! It also has the same dryer consistency as the Smores bar. I don’t know if that’s their new formula? But it’s not working for the mint chunk! The Smores is awesome and tastes great!

Stay away from this bar it’s nasty!

Supplement Review: Chef Robert Irvine’s Fit Crunch Baked Protein Bar

20131220-154707.jpg

20131220-154716.jpg
World-renowned Chef Robert Irvine and FortiFX founder and industry pioneer Sean Perich teamed up to create FIT CRUNCH™ with one rule: NO COMPROMISE. These two industry leaders pushed one another to create a product worthy of their reputations and beyond your expectations: FIT CRUNCH™, the only 6-layer baked bar on the planet.

Each bar delivers 30 grams of the highest quality protein blend, including whey – elements the body can use. Low in sugar, these bars are also easy to digest.

Regarding taste, again, no compromise.

A lifelong body builder as well as the acclaimed culinary expert who is famous for bringing great taste to nutritious foods, Chef Robert Irvine said this about the bar: “As good as anything I’ve ever made.”

The ideal fit as a partner for Chef Robert’s vision was none other than FortiFX founder, Sean Perich. Sean launched his enterprise out of a tiny, apartment kitchen in 2001. Tired of eating the the indigestible protein bricks on the market, he sought to improve the way protein bars were made and created the world’s first baked protein bar.

FAQ’S

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions. If you have a question that isn’t answered below, ask us using our CONTACT PAGE.

Q: HOW ARE THESE DIFFERENT FROM THE ORIGINAL FORTIFX BARS?

A: The original FortiFX bars were our delicious triple-layer baked bars, not completely dissimilar from the new Fit Crunch bars. When industry pioneer and founder of FortiFX, Sean Perich, met Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine they decided to take the original bars to a new level with taste and texture. Fit Crunch offers six delicious layers with a variety of textures – not only a soft cookie core but a layer of cream and a crunch on top! **Please note that the nutritional profile (and ingredients) of FortiFX triple-layer bars is slightly different from Fit Crunch.**

Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 15G AND 30G BARS?
A: The bars are manufactured using the same ingredients and process. The only difference is the serving size. The smaller bar is 48 grams in total weight boasting 15 grams of protein – and contain about half of the nutritional content of the 30g version.

Q: WHY IS A BAKED BAR BETTER?
A: All other high protein energy bars are manufactured on technologically inferior “Cold Form Extrusion” or “Cold Slab-and-Slit” equipment which has remained relatively unchanged for the past 25 years. A comparison is simply unfair; our baked products have a far superior taste, softer texture, and much better shelf life. Our proprietary baking process enables us to produce a great tasting, high protein, soft-batch energy bars the same way Grandma used to make her homemade cookies.

Q: WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF THE BARS?
A: The bars offer an 18 month shelf life. Store in a cool, dry place at or below 70 degrees F to assure shelf life.

Q: WHERE ELSE CAN I BUY THE BARS?
A: You can buy our bars online at FitCrunchBars.com or at a variety of other national retailers and gyms as well as online. You can also purchase our bars through participating partners internationally.

FIT CRUNCH PEANUT BUTTER
This bar is packed with peanut butter flavor specifically made with the PB connoisseur in mind. Layers of rich peanut butter taste and creamy chocolate makes for a great reward after a tough workout. A vanilla cookie core is layered with peanut butter, fresh peanuts, high protein chocolate, chocolate crisps and top-layered with a creamy chocolate and peanut butter drizzle.

1. These are the largest protein bars I have ever seen! They even dwarf the detour and supreme bars! Larger bar means you are full when you eat it and you are surprisingly full for a long time!
2. Amazing taste and 20 calories less than detour and supreme bars!
3. They are baked!

They do have more net carbs, but they are listed as a meal replacement bar.

Here’s a challenge to Chef Irvine: can you make a zero net carb bar with less calories for dieters?

My homemade bars are still better! Check out beware the protein bar here on this site!

Recipe: Semi-Homemade Quest Bar Poptarts

20131215-195628.jpg
A delicious recipe from our very own Quest Creator Shannan Penna for “Pop-Tarts” made from QUEST BARS!
A) Roll out one Vanilla Almond Quest Bar on a rolling pin (can use any flavor bar, apple is awesome and chocolate brownie too).
B) Fill inside with 1-2 tbps sugar free jam. I used raspberry.
C) Topped with another Vanilla Almond Quest Bar, rolled out and trim edges with knife.
D) Then press edges with fork… crimping edges so jam stays inside.
E) Broil for four minutes in oven. You can use a toaster oven also for browned toasty top. The microwave will also work but you wont get the browned top, (Adjust times).
F) Top it with a little mixture of protein powder and peanut butter or whipped cottage cheese & flavoring.
G) Add some sprinkles for fun, effect & crunch!

I’m not crazy about the chewy texture of Quest bars! However at 200 calories they are half the calories of the standard protein bar.

I am eager to see if rolling them out an cooking them changes the consistency and makes them more enjoyable!

I will try this recipe! Stay tuned!

I will try rolling out one bar and folding in half rather than using 2 bars!

**Update** January 12th 2014
I tried one last week rolling it out was easy, and making it was easy.

The texture was like burnt crispy rubber, but it did taste better and made the consistency crispy, rather than edible modeling clay! It is a nice alternative to the modeling clay every once in a while.

I am now wondering how my homemade bars would make a pop tart!
