Preppers: Couponing for Success and Survival
How do you coupon for success? Well; first off it’s a no brainer! You get coupons! There are a few ways to get coupons. You can get coupons in the Sunday paper. Make sure you look at the papers some papers have different circulars and some have multiple. Some papers cost more while others are cheaper. Don’t buy more than 4 of the same circular unless you are prepared to make multiple purchases. Also; if you go to bjs and self checkout; you can scan each coupon multiple times. Just drop in a different coupon that you won’t use into the slot.
The key to successful couponing isn’t just getting coupons! You must coordinate the coupons with the in store sales! Look at the store you are going to and see their weekly sales and see if they coordinate with your coupons. For example. You get a shampoo for $2.99 it’s on sale for $1.99 and you have a $1.00 off coupon. Most stores double coupons and now you have $2.00 off a $1.99 item. Guess what? The company now owes you a penny! Multiple that by a bunch of items and you will have a pretty nice gift card to use for your next purchase.
That in a nutshell is couponing for success!
What are the best items to coupon for?
Personal and Cleaning products such as: shampoo, shaving cream, deodorant, toothpaste, detergent (pods), oxyclean, dish soap, dishwasher pods, floor cleaner etc…
Also disposable razors and toothbrushes are practically free or they pay you to take them out.
More products: napkins, toilet paper, tissues, paper towels
Make sure to save some room for your stock pile! And remember these products don’t expire!
Some other almost free items: vitamins, medicine (aspirin, Advil, aleve) cereal, oatmeal, poptarts, peanut butter etc..
It does take a little work and coordination just make sure you are organized! Get envelopes or a binder with sports card pockets and separate your coupons into categories:
Personal products, food, cleaning products, paper products etc…
If you shop at multiple stores such as: shoprite, stop and shop, Walgreens, Walmart, BJs etc.. Spilt them into larger envelopes and put your subdivided envelops inside. Or partition off your binder by stores.
