Recipe: Healing South Indian Tomato Black Pepper Soup Made Better!

3-4 garlic cloves (use fresh)
½tsp turmeric (Organic Powder)
1-2 tsp black pepper (Crushed peppercorn)
1 tsp cumin (Organic)
1 tbsp oil (Doesn’t say – I would use Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
(Doesn’t say – I would use a pinch of Sea Salt)
Take 3-4 cups of water in a heavy bottomed vessel. Roughly chop the tomatoes and add it to the water. Add some salt and turmeric and bring it to a boil. Let it simmer slowly.
While the tomatoes are simmering dry roast the black pepper and cumin till fragrant and once cool grind it into coarse powder in a pestle and mortar.
Peel the garlic and lightly crush it.
Heat oil in a pan, add the garlic and fry till golden. Add the pepper cumin powder and turn off the heat.
Add this to the simmering tomato mixture. Continue to boil for 2-3 minutes for all the spices to come together and tomatoes to fall apart. Drink hot!

I would add a few ingredients:
Orange Zest (Grate a fresh orange skin)
Basil Leaves (Fresh)
Don’t forget Cayenne or Chili Peppers!!
Don’t use water! Use 3-4 Cups of Green Tea instead! How’s that for a healthy power punch!!
If you happen to have a lemon handy (Juice of half a lemon fresh squeezed)
Always try to use fresh organic Ingredients when possible!
