Doomsday Preppers is an American documentary television series that airs on the National Geographic Channel. The series interviews people who are preparing to survive the various circumstances through which life as we know it might come to an end, including economic collapse, societal collapse, electromagnetic pulse, terrorist acts, nuclear incidents, fuel shortages, war, pandemics, etc. The interviews detail the actions that the preppers have taken, and end with an expert analysis and recommendations for improvements.

Doomsday Preppers has received varied reviews. While some see it as the logical production of a growing movement, [21] others have condemned it as an “absurd excess on display and at what an easy target the prepper worldview is for ridicule,” noting, “how offensively anti-life these shows are, full of contempt for humankind.” [22] Nevertheless, “The program has been a ratings bonanza, with a 60-percent male audience, with an average age of 44.” [23] In response to negative comments, one prepper responded: “We don’t make it an obsession like some folks but we do spend a fair amount of time and money on it.” “…you can’t always rely on the government or society to help you. The more people that are prepping minded, the better off we’ll all do.” [24]

“Doomsday Preppers is the network’s most-watched series”, [25] and Brooklyn Bagwell, casting director for the second season, claimed “It’s the highest-rated show” in the history of the National Geographic Channel!

This show is awesome! The overall consensus is that preppers are crazy.. However, I do see much needed skills that I would like to have that I don’t such as skinning an animal and/or fish. tanning a hide, making my own food, an aquaponics garden was cool to see.

One thing any prepper has in common is MONEY! This shit isn’t cheap! This is one expensive hobby! Then, the problem is when is enough, enough?
The best part about the show is they score the preppers on each episode at the end, and then they show what changes they made since the scoring.

The part that gets me is the waste… You can only store food for so long… how do you properly rotate the storage?
image

Also, how healthy is food that can be stored for years? The food pictured below has a 25yr shelf life! High calorie meals are great if you have a primitive lifestyle such as the Amish, but if you lead a normal lifestyle high calorie meals will only get you fat.

The next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesn’t disappoint me as much as this one. After all, Yes, it was my choice to read through, but I truly thought you’d have something useful to talk about. All I hear is a bunch of moaning about something that you could fix if you were not too busy looking for attention.

    • I was reluctant to post this comment, as it is vague… what can be fixed? what are you referring to? Obviously not the Doomsday prepper review… Since this was my first negative comment I posted it, because I don’t like censorship… Next time if you have something negative to say.. be specific and constructive or you will end up in the trash! Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion, I am not forcing my views on anyone, but at least have an opinion! Don’t just complain randomly
