Martial Arts: Where have all the good men gone?

Where have all the good men gone?

Growing up there were a plethora of martial arts action stars:

Jean Claude Van Damme
Steven Seagal
Dolph Lundgren
Bruce Lee
Brandon Lee
Jackie Chan
Jet Li
Sammo Hung
Chuck Norris
Gary Daniels
Jeff Wincott
Jeff Speakman
Wesley Snipes
Michael Jai White
Ernie Reyes
Ernie Reyes Jr.
Billy Blanks
Don the Dragon Wilson
Mark Dacascos

Where have they gone?

Well, the Lee’s are dead, Seagal has Lupus; so his movies have gone to shit, Jeff Speakman got super fat and lost his appeal. Jackie & Sammo went back to Hong Kong, Mark Dacascos is doing freakin Iron Chef. Are you freakin kidding me!! Everyone else is either making straight to DVD crap with no storylines or they have fallen off the face of the Earth.

I thought rare new blood: Ray Park, Tony Jaa & Cyril Raffaelli would take over but they are making crap too!

Oh yeah don’t forget those movies the UFC and Tapout made:

no storyline flops. With the exception of Redbelt that movie was great!

The Expendables was an awesome movie, but we need more than one movie every couple of years!

We need new blood!! Talent scouts get out there and look!!

All we are left with is overseas Hong Kong imports which wouldn’t be bad, but all they make is ridiculous fly though the air, extremely fake, bullshit movies!! I hate those!

I know everything in movies is usually fake, one guy vs a thousand and he comes out unscathed, but at least make it semi believable! Loose the stupid wirework!!

There are plenty of martial art moves that are nasty and real. How about a Filipino movie about the Moro Warriors, there is bound to be some awesome realistic bladework.

Hollywood is wrapped up in making dark content (realistic) remakes like new superhero movies. What about a dark realistic remake of American Ninja? PS I have a great storyline for that!!

Hollywood please save us avid (and ever-growing fan-base) Martial Arts Fans and save the industry! Give us new stars!! And plenty of new movies!!

  1. Jean Claude’s newest movie on DVD Assassination Games is Awesome!! We need more movies like this!! His co-star is also good and helps to compliment the movie. The female lead: Marija Karan is extremely gorgeous!

This movie is a definate rental and definate buy if you are a martial arts or JCVD fan.

    Assassination Games

Brazil (Jean-Claude Van Damme) is a contract killer, willing to take any job if the price is right. Flint (Scott Adkins) left the assassin game when a ruthless drug dealer’s brutal attack left his wife in a coma. When a contract is put out on the same coldblooded drug dealer, both Brazil and Flint want him dead – one for the money, the other for revenge. With crooked Interpol agents and vicious members of the criminal underworld hot on their trail, these two assassins reluctantly join forces to quickly take out their target before they themselves are terminated.

    • Usually the rule of thumb is sequels suck!

Not in the case of: Never Back Down 2
      With Michael Jai White.

Behind closed doors of a seemingly normal college, the ultimate showdown in underground MMA fighting is being planned. Ex-MMA rising star Case Walker (Michael Jai White) trains four college-age fighters, each with their own individual obstacles. Case will instruct them to master the most mind-blowing fighting techniques and go head to head in the most punishing competition ever devised – The Beatdown. Featuring Ex-UFC Champion Lyoto Machida, MMA fighter Scottie Epstein and UFC fighter Todd Duffee.

      This is a must buy!

The martial arts sequences are cool. The storyline is pretty good although the villain in the movie makes no sense. He is small, informidable and he was a student of the teacher for one day longer then his competitor.

      Other that the movie cool!
      Buy this!!
